The Netherlands has a
population approaching 16.2 million in an area only twice the size of New
Jersey (much of it reclaimed from the sea), making it one of the world's
most densely populated countries. Although historically
"Christian" with considerable overseas influence, the role of
Bible-believers in the Netherlands has been steadily decreasing. The
number who go to any church has rapidly declined while the profession of
"no religion" is among the highest in Western Europe.
There are several dozen assemblies, but they have long been in distinct
groupings. Recently, however, barriers among many of them have
started to recede.
