Portugal covers an
area 359 miles long and 125 miles wide; approximately 10.4 million
people live in this country. 10% of the population is made up of
people from Eastern Europe, Angola, Mozambique, and Brazil. Since 1974 there has been religious
freedom and, therefore, greater opportunity for evangelism. 90% of the people profess to be Roman Catholic but only 29%, mostly in
the north, attend church regularly. There are about 130 assemblies
in Portugal.
