Hong Kong became a Special Administrative Region (S.A.R.) of China on July 1, 1997.  Comprising 414 square miles of land area, Hong Kong has a population of 6.8 million, 98% of them ethnic Chinese.  Freedom of religion continues at present, but only 3% of the population profess to be Protestants.  The first assembly in Hong Kong was established in 1895.
