Ireland is just
slightly larger than South Carolina, comprises two nations on one island.
The population is 4
million. Northern
Ireland, made up of 6 counties, is well evangelized and has a strong
assembly testimony. The Republic (or South) has 26 counties and
though the assembly heritage sprang out of Ireland, the Republic today is
94% Roman Catholic. Great freedom of religion exists now and many
are disillusioned with the Catholic church, especially the younger
generation. Large numbers are seeking fulfillment through
materialism. There are great needs for pioneers, Bible teachers and
evangelists. There are about 20 assemblies in the Irish Republic.
