Guatemala, about the
size of Ohio, borders on Mexico. Religious liberty exists and many
different religions abound in the country, resulting in spiritual
confusion. There are great opportunities for the true Gospel.
The 12.4 million population is roughly divided into two groups - 40%:
those with Spanish culture called "Ladinos," and 60%: those who
belong to the 23 Mayan Indian language groups. The largest Indian
tribe, the Quiche (over 1 million), lives mostly in the mountainous
southwestern region.
